Design, Environment & Construction Division will be involved in a day-long retreat on
Wednesday, December 14th.
For this reason, most of the staff will be away from the office on this day and available ONLY for critical requests and emergencies.
The purpose of the retreat is to fully unify the DEC team now that recent hires have been made (Kay and Michelle) and current staff members have returned from medical leave (Tony and Andrea). We will focus on taking stock of our responsibilities and identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
WHAT ABOUT THE OFFICE?
Note that the Intake Office will remain open as former SAFEbuilt, Inc./Decatur inspector Kim Craig (currently with SAFEBuilt, Inc.) will offer basic permit tech services from 9AM-4PM.
Monday through Friday: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Design, Environment & Construction Division is home to plan intake, permitting, inspections, engineering, streets, the storm water utility, landscape infrastructure, and code enforcement in the City of Decatur.
With a primary focus on Decatur’s Strategic Principles A and D (growth/retain character and services/quality of life), the DEC works to deliver high quality services that meet and exceed expectations.
The Division will also ensure the highest level of coordination to reduce errors and save money. The DEC will continue to develop design-based best practices that ensure Decatur’s unique sense of place in an urban environment.
