Touch-a-Truck Day

Location: Calloway Building Parking Lot,120 W. Trinity Pl.
When: Saturday, March 20, 2010
Time: 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Come join Decatur Active Living on Saturday, March 20 for the annual Touch-a-Truck. This community fun event gives children of all ages a chance to touch, explore and see their favorite truck or equipment on wheels. The City of Decatur fire truck, dump trucks, tractors, police cars, motorcycles, bicycles and many other vehicles will be on display.

Magical Mornings • 2-5 yrs
Decatur Recreation Center
Cost is $2 for Decatur Residents and $4 for all other attendees
School groups, don’t miss out on the fun. Entertainment from storytelling, animals and magic. Groups of 10 or more must make reservations and pre-pay. Call 404-377-0494.

On Tuesday, February 16th there will be a puppet show featuring Lee Bryan From 11:00am to 12:00pm.

On Wednesday, March 17th there will be a juggling demonstration featuring Ron Anglin from 11:00am to 12:00pm.

Piano Workshop

Instant Piano, Student will learn the basic skills of reading leadsheet notation (chord charts) as used by professional pop musicians. Basic Knowledge of treble clef is required. I start by reviewing the basics then I teach students the 3 basic chords to start. Students will then learn how to read the “Leadsheets”. Next they will learn the difference between Major, Minor, and 7th Chords after which the will learn how to play them on the piano. In a few hours make piano playing part of your life. Learn all the chords to play any pop song in one session plus a health dose of insider secrets. If you already know your way around the keyboard a little then you’re ready for this workshop. Workshop cost includes: Music Workbook, Instructional CD, and Keyboard Chart.

Children’s Arts Festival
Saturday, May 29 • 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Decatur Recreation Center
As part of the 22nd annual Decatur Arts Festival, Decatur Recreation will host the Children’s Arts Festival. Activities will include arts and crafts, storytellers, clowns, ponies, food and music. The Animal Crackers staff will lead several arts and craft activities.

Neighborhood Softball Tournament
Saturday, May 8 • 11 a.m.
McKoy Park
Decatur neighborhood associations are invited to participate in the fifth annual Neighborhood Softball Tournament. Neighborhood teams build community so organize your team and prepare for great softball action. The Rec will provide hotdogs and punch.

Summer Camp registration began March 27. We offer five Decatur camps for K-8th grades; Counselor in Training and Junior Counselor programs for teens; counselor positions for 18 and over.
