Fire Stations and Apparatus

Fire Stations

Decatur maintains two fire stations. Firefighters work 24 hours on duty and 48 hours off duty in three shifts of 12 personnel each. 
 

Fire Station 1, Decatur, Georgia

This station, built in 1958, is the headquarters for the fire department. It houses three pumpers, one Quint, one air and light truck, one rescue vehicle, and one ambulance.

Built in 1952 to provide fire protection for South Decatur. Renovated in 2009

Equipment Carried: Medical kits, spare O2 bottles, and other medical equipment. The unit is a rapid response vehicle for medical emergencies.

Decatur's Mini Fire Truck Mini Fire Truck
Fire prevention vehicle used for education and public outreach programs. It is also an operational transport unit that can carry a patient on a back board to the awaiting ambulance. The emergency lights, bell and siren operate as does the public address system. The unit was purchased with funds donated by The Great Decatur Beer Tasting Festival, Decatur First Bank, Decatur Arts Alliance, Decatur Business Association and the South Decatur Community Development Corp.
