Parking in Decatur

Parking Map of Downtown DecaturDowntown Decatur parking is plentiful, convenient and affordable! There are 300 metered spaces, 2,200 deck and lot spaces, and private spaces located conveniently in front of many of Decatur's fine merchants.

Why parking meters? Parking meters are not intended to provide a source of revenue for the City of Decatur. Instead, parking meters are a form of parking management that discourages long-term use of the most convenient on-street parking by downtown employees and MARTA patrons and help assure that these most desirable spaces are available for our retail and restaurant customers. A two-hour parking limit is enforced from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Metered parking is free after 6 p.m.

Pals Program
What does PALS stand for? PALS is an acronym for Parking, Assistance, Liaison with Merchants and Safety. While our downtown PALS staff is responsible for writing parking tickets, one of their primary responsibilities is to serve as ambassadors for the City of Decatur. PALS are responsible for writing parking tickets in metered parking spaces, on-street loading zones, fire lanes and handicapped parking areas in the downtown Decatur business district. In addition, PALS carry with them retail directories to hand out to visitors seeking directions.

For a printed copy of the information and map shown here, contact the Decatur Downtown Development Authority at  404-371-8386 , or info@decaturga.com. Also available is the Shopping, Dining and Services Guide, a complete listing of restaurants and specialty shops in our Oakhurst and Downtown business districts.

Free Validated Parking! Many of our retail and restaurant operators offer free validated parking in nearby decks. Be sure to ask if validated parking is provided.
